I love this painting.
It hangs on the wall in our sitting room and was a gift from a good
friend to my husband on my behalf. It
was made to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary. To me, it is extremely personal. She has shown our family perfectly, each silhouette
capturing an essence of us. When I look
at it, it makes me smile. I see love, I
see adventure and I see hope; hope for the future and what life holds for the
three of us. To my mind this image can
create so many stories, as well as our own.
It would make a fabulous book cover too.
Inspiration comes from so many sources: memories,
conversations overheard, smells, food we have eaten and the things we have
seen. Every picture tells a story, or so
I’ve heard. This is how powerful an
image can be. Recently I read a blog by
the novelist Deborah Lawrenson and it contained the most beautiful photographs
of the Chanel flower stall in Covent Garden.
Just looking at these pictures conjures up the smell of perfume, flowers
and a feeling of luxury and elegance; again another story just waiting to be
told. Do take a peek. Have you ever seen
such beautiful roses?
Who knows maybe one day I’ll write a story inspired by our
painting and now just looking at it, it feels like there might be a happy
ending there too.
